AssetWise Implementation Guide

To Update the Datasource with New Database Files

Setting up an AssetWise datasource involves creating the datasource and deploying the delivered Core database package to the underlying database (see To Create a Datasource ). The Core database package contains the main AssetWise database files, required for every datasource.

You will need to update the datasource again if you:

  • install additional database files on the AssetWise Information Integrity Server
  • upgrade the version of the AssetWise Information Integrity Server; upgrading the server delivers a new version of the database files, which need to be deployed to the database
  1. Open AssetWise System Management Console (Start > Bentley > eB System Management Console).
  2. In the Explorer pane, expand Servers > your_server > Data Sources.
  3. Under the Data Sources node, expand your datasource and select Database Scripts.
  4. In the content pane, do the following:
    1. In the Database Packages section, turn on the database package(s) you want to deploy, and turn off any database packages that are already deployed or do not need to be updated.
      • Core - the main AssetWise database files, required for every datasource. If you upgrade the server, the Core package will show that the new version needs to be installed.
      • ProjectWise - the additional database files required for ProjectWise integration
Attention: Installing the updated version of the Core database package will fail on Oracle-based datasources if Oracle Locator is not installed on the Oracle Database server. Please make sure Oracle Locator is installed on the Oracle Database server before you continue.
    2. In the Update Status section, click the link, Click to Start the Database Update.
  5. When the database update is complete, click OK.
